Jacks new saloon was doing well, but it had one problem. "I don't want warm beer!" The customers were never satisfied with the warm drinks they were served. Jack needed to find a way to keep his drinks cold or he would go out of business. He thought he had tried everything, but one day a traveling salesmen came to him. "Would you like to buy anything?" He asked. Jack told him that he couldn't afford much because nobody wanted his drinks but then the salesmen said "I have just what you need!" Then he pulled a fan out of his wagon. "What's this?" Jack asked him. "An advanced device" the salesman said "I can sell it to you, but you have to keep it a secret, nobody can know they exist yet." "Why can't they know?" Jack asked. "The time travel police will get mad at me." the salesmen said. "

Timmy's farm used to be a peaceful place, but one day while he was feeding his cow a crow flew to him. "Hello the crow said." Timmy was surprised by the talking crow and tried to swat it away. "That was rude." the crow said after perching a few feet away. "How can you talk?" Timmy asked the crow. "The same way as you." The crow said. "why are you here." Timmy said. "I need food, my family is starving." The crow said. "I'm not giving you food, your just a crow!" Timmy told the crow before tossing a rock at it. "I'll remember this." the crow said as it flew away. The next day Timmy saw that his cows had all been tipped. "Who did this!" He shouted, then he heard laughing from above him. He looked up to see the crow looking down on him. "Did you do this." Timmy angrily asked the crow." "I did and I'll do it again." the crow pompously said as it flew away. The next day Timmy put a scarecrow up but the crow tipped that too. Timmy tired putting 20 different scarecrows up the next day but all but one where tipped the next day. He saw that only the red scarecrow was still standing and wondered why. That night he waited for the crow and asked it. "Why didn't you tip that one?" "I didn't feel like it" the crow said while Turing its head. Timmy was sneaking up on the crow but it noticed him and moved to another fence. Then the crow started coughing and quickly flew to another fence. After seeing that the fence was red Timmy got an idea. The next day he looked out his window and saw that his cows where still standing. He had painted them all red and could see the crow start coughing whenever it got close. Timmy laughed at the crow from his house. "I have defeated you!" he shouted. The crow flew to his and asked "How did you know I was allergic to the color red?" "I guessed." Timmy said. The crow left and never came back. After that Timmy warned all of his friends about the crow and they decided to paint their barns red to protect them from the crow.
"there's a thief." the Captain announced. The crew looked around suspiciously, they where going to share the gold when they got home but someone had already stolen half of it. "When I find who tried to steal our gold ill throw them overboard!" the captain yelled. The captain went below deck to search everyone's rooms. It didn't take long for him to find the gold hidden in Joe's room. "your plan has been foiled!" the captain triumphantly shouted at Joe. It was tradition to execute prisoners at noon so they tied Joe to a chair and waited until the next day. At 11 the captain asked Joe what he wanted his last meal to be. The ship only had potatoes and carrots so it wasn't an exiting choice, but Joe said something surprising. "A plank of wood." The captain was confused by Joe response. "Are you sure?" the captain asked. "Yes" Joe replied looking completely serious. The captain brought a plank of wood and the rest of the crew to watch. Everyone was surprised when he took the first bite of the plank. It was slow but Joe managed to eat the entire plank. "It's finally time" the captain said. "But it isn't twelve" Joe said, looking confident. The captain checked and saw that it was already almost 1. "We will have to toss you tomorrow" the captain said. The next day the captain came in five minuets before 12 to see Joe. "You forgot my last meal" Joe said. The captain realized that he wouldn't have time to execute him today and brought another plank to Joe. The next day the captain gave Joe his plank at 9. The captain looked happy to finally be done when Joe finished eating but then realized that it was five minutes past 12 already. The next day they reached the shore. The captain realized that they would have to release Joe when their ship was inspected. As soon as he did Joe started walking off the ship while laughing. They never saw Joe again. Now in honor of Joe's escape, whenever they execute someone they make them walk off a plank.
The discussion started with groups stating their thought on what was happening. It was very chaotic and unorganized during the discussion. The discussion then moved group stating what they wanted and their demands for compromise. Then the discussion became more organized and calm as compromises where discussed. I feel that the Native group present their ideas best. The promoters did a good job of making their position clear and being in character but the Native group shared a lot of evidence and reasoning to all of their decisions and views. It was interesting how all of the groups goals conflicted with each other so much, It was difficult to come to a compromise that was fair for all groups. I still wonder how these discussions went in real life and how they could try to compromise even with distance and language barriers.
They ran along the rocky shore. It was a frivolous adventure but they enjoyed it. They admired the ocean as they ran. They wondered what was out there, Hypothetically it could go on forever, but they where very superstitious and were afraid to go to far into the sea. They wanted to look at the ocean forever, but they would have to go back to their peasant life, eating the same insipid soup every day. They wanted to sail away, the idea to build a boat had been germinating for months, but they had never tried to actually build it. They soon reached they end of their path, it was a poignant reminder that soon they would be back to their everyday life, but until then they continued their adventure along the shore.
All of the things we found on the scavenger hunt at Balboa Park told stories or showed history. These all connect to the theme of showing history and stories in different ways. One of the interesting artifacts I saw was the three statues above the history museum, It made me want to know who was in the statues and what they did. The artifacts we saw connect to the story-line of different ways to tell story and show history. In the museum there where a lot of different ways they showed history. Some where shown with paintings and pictures, they also used word to tell more about some of the artifacts. There where also interactive parts of the museum. The way the puppet show of Peter and the Wolf was presented felt very unique. They used props in many different ways during the show such as how the coat also became the wolfs fur. They managed to show a lot of different elements of the story using limited props and had a lot of unique ways to use them. It was also interesting how the story was told from a third person perspective.
I am looking forward to learning more about thing that I haven't gotten to learn about yet. I am nervous about doing annotations this year since I struggle with annotating. I am nervous about trying to write a book for honors but I am also exited for it since it will be something new for me and think I will grow a lot while writing it.
The topics that interest me most are Pirates, Gender roles, and LGBT history. Pirates sound like something that is very interesting and there is a lot of false information about them so I would like to learn more about what it was actually like. I like Gender roles are an important thing to learn about and also interesting to see how things changed over time. LGBT history isn't something that get talked about much and is usually ignored and I would love to learn more about it. I am interested to see what it was like in history and also how things have progressed.
The analysis was partially correct. Most of them interpreting the individual meaning of the symbols was correct. They misinterpreted the bird by think it meant I owned a bird and that the man running was him jumping. The bird was supposed to represent that birds are my favorite animal and the man running shows that I used to do cross country. The TV represented that I enjoy watching movies, the drawing pad represented that I draw and the man dancing showed that I dance.
