We learned more about the world since the last part of the book. Offred is secretly meeting with the commander now and may try to use that to escape. This book reminds me of V for Vendetta. They are both dystopias and have similar methods of control in them. One parallel I see to real life is how they make people accept their situation. It is similar to how people can be convinced of things that seem unreasonable in both real life and in the book.

The book takes place in a place where the government has strict regulation on everything that happens. It told from the perspective of Offred and showed her life before and after the government took control. This is the first dystopian novel I've read and it is interesting to read about this kind of world. This book takes place in America and probably somewhere in the near past.

April 11 2018 "In a Syrian Town, People Started Shouting: ‘Chemicals! Chemicals!’" Ben Hubbard This article is about a chemical attack in Syria. The attack happened in ___, a rebel controlled area. Soon after they surrendered the city to the Syrian government. There is still a lot of confusion about what really happened. www.nytimes.com/2018/04/11/world/middleeast/syria-chemical-attack-douma.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fworld The New York Times 3/3/18 "Once Banned, Now Loved and Loathed: How the AR-15 Became 'America's Rifle' Ali Watkins, John Ismay, and Thomas Gibbons This article is about the popularity and importance of the AR-15 in America. The AR-15 is one of the most popular and well known guns in America and has become very controversial. For many this gun is a symbol of freedom, but it is also a symbol of tragedy. It discussed the history of the gun and why it was so important. The ban on buying an AR-15 was lifted in 2004. After this it quickly became one of the most popular gun's in America. There where many different reasons that caused this gun to become popular so quickly. It was released when there was a lot of interest in the military and shooter games where becoming very popular. The gun had also become desirable before it was made legal by Military advertisement's and a desire to have something that isn't sold anymore. Because of this the AR-15 very quickly became a very popular gun in America. It had become a symbol of freedom for many. However now it has become well know for another reason. The AR-15 has been used in many shooting and people are now talking about if it should be banned again. After reading this article I feel that I understand why people want to keep this gun so much. Even though I understand why people love this gun so much I still think that it would be better to ban it. It has caused too many death's to be allowed even if it represent's something more for many people. Article I will comment on Cole and Andrew's blogs AR-15
In the final part of the book Michael finishes his fourth and final year as a resident. He gets promoted to chief resident and get a lot more comfortable and confident with his work and his life. After he finishes his residency he moves back to Chicago and get a job at another hospital after his residency is done. If the story did continue it would show what his life is like now that he is no longer a resident. Based on what we have seen he will probably get used to his new job and make new friends pretty quickly. I think it would be interesting to get a prequel of this book. I would like to know more about what medical school was like for him and think it would make an interesting book. I really liked this book and learned a lot from it. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in surgery or the medical field.
I will comment on Mariela and Andrew's blog. Michael has now started his third year at the Mayo Clinic. Now he is a senor resident and has a lot more responsibility. He has started to feel a lot more confident and is hoping to become the lead resident next year. If I was in the book as one of the residents I would probably be friends with the main characters. They are all likable people who I feel would be good friends to have. I am not sure how I would handle the stress that they have to go through in the book. I feel that I wouldn't get along with Alex very well because he speaks his mind to much and I have trouble with people who cant hold back. Overall I really like the cast of this book and would love to have met them.
I will comment on Cold and Andrew's blogs Michael has entered his second year of residency. He has been struggling with having to work most of the week and not having any time with his family. His relationship with his wife has changed a lot recently. They both want to be able to spend more time with each other but Michael was transferred to the ER and has had less time now. He also has to moonlight at another hospital because they don't have enough money. One day he came home late and got in an argument about how he hasn't been spending any time with his family. Later his brother visits him and stays for a week. Him and his brother don't have a very good relation ship but it is mostly Michael who doesn't like his brother. During his visit his brother takes on a father role with his kids which makes Michael jealous and sad that he doesn't get more time with them. This causes him to take a very negative view of his situation. We also see his relationship with his kids. He doesn't get to spend much time with them and the book shows that even though his brother was only there for a week he knows more about them than Michael does. Now that he is going into his second year I think he will have a chance to improve his relationship with his family.
The book is about Michaels residency at Mayo Clinic. It starts with the beginning of his residency as an orthopedic surgeon when he is very nervous and confused. I think that he is going to start getting more confident soon in the book. He is going to be with a different doctor soon and I think that will probably be more difficult and force him to grow. I really like the book so far. It is interesting to read about his experience and see how he grow during the book.

1/24/18 "Indians Are Convulsed by Anger Over Film About a Legendary Hindu Queen" Jeffrey Gettleman This article is about a new film that was released in India. The film is called Padmaavat and is about the legend of a Hindu queen, Padmavati. The legend of Padmavati is very important for many people and many are upset at the film for being based on such an important legend. Extremist groups have started mobs and sent threats because of this controversial films release. The release of Padmaavat has become a big issue in India. Many are protesting the film and there are also more violent protests. The police have had to take extra measures and watch theaters closely because of the violent protests. There are many who want to ban the film but there are also many who supported the films release. This has become a major event in India. Because of how the protests have spread the release of this film is now affecting the whole country. This has become a very important and polarizing issue in India There are lots of opinions on this films release. I think that it should be allowed. It is about something that is very important but from the information I have it was trying to be accurate and respectful to its source. I can understand why people might not like someone making a movie about something that important but I believe it should still be played for those who don't mind. I will comment on Andrew and Karsten's blog posts.
